Popular Post CaptainQuintero
The humidity has died down a little here allowing it to be pleasant to sit out, it's been a stifling few weeks and I just haven't bothered lighting anything up knowing full well that it's just going to get hot and muggy within a few minutes. So taking my chance I grab a consistent performer, the QdO Pantetela. Possibly the most Gallic cigar produced for the French market (Initially) these are super decadent, classy-slow smokes. Perfect for sitting and watching the world go by with. Draw is great First few puffs and I know I've stuffed up lighting this with a bic, there's a little breeze and my poor initial attempt at getting the guy going hasn't been the greatest. Quite a nutty opening, which is something I don't usually get with these, or QdO in general. There's also a slight touch of berry fruit. This is almost Punch-like. A cm or so in and the burn has settled down and there's a wonderful vanilla custard aroma filling the garden. These are usually custard sticks so things are looking hopeful. Second third and the nuts have gone, replaced with a straight up crème brulé core; sweetened milk, heavy vanilla and dark caramelised sugar. These are such a lazy slow smoke; big soft pillows of thick smoke hang in the air. Final third and the caramelised sugar has evolved into a lovely dark molasses rum note. Combining with that still heavy vanilla it's a brilliant combination. Little hints of raspberry lilt in and out as the cigar comes to a close. 94/100
