Popular Post BeerPimp
Earlier this year I purchased some of these and have been wanting to try them especially after seeing them sell quickly in many 24:24. So the freestyle cigar review weekend seemed like a good opportunity to do that. The only other Hoyo de Monterrey I have smoked is the Epicure Especial. I definitely still need to try the Epicure #1 and #2. This is the largest ring gauge CC I have smoke to date. After really starting to feel the effects of the nicotine from the review of a Partagas PSE2 I wondered how this cigar would go. I paired it with some Larceny bourbon. Cold draw was light tobacco and cream. The first third was some vegetal and cream. It started out pretty light. By the second third this cigar really picked up. I was getting a little cream but a lot of shortbread and some mild sweetness with a touch of cinnamon. Sorry for the out of focus picture. Last third it stayed pretty consistent with the touch of cream, shortbread and cinnamon with the same sweetness. I started to get some black pepper also. Burn wise this cigar for such a large ring gauge burned really well. Only some small touch ups needed for the wrapper here and there. I didn't quite smoke it to a nub but it was close. It got really strong right before I quit and I was starting to feel the effects of the nicotine. I look forward to smoking more of these but I am not sure I will purchase anymore. I could definitely feel the nicotine at the end of the cigar. I will give this a cigar a rating of 91%. 6
