Having hundreds of vagabonds on your property rummaging through your crap and haggling over a dollar. Let alone me turning up to someone else's front yard to go through his stuff. Jesus shoot me now. However, professionally, as a photographer, yard sales can be a great resource for odd and old props. My wife is a food photographer and is constantly looking for things that would be unique in photos. She buys a lot of old silverware and other food related items from yard sales.
