I’m not pinned-worthy! @chzblck - interior volume will be about 26 cubic feet. How many boxes...no clue...yet. ? Mini update for a Friday evening... 1. Fitting glass for doors, making sure there’s no finish drops that impact the fit. 2. I’m going to run clear silicone in the door frames, but I want to physically secure them too. Hardware store (an essential business) didn’t have anything remotely close to what I wanted, so I made some. These wood strips will be finished, and then screwed into place. 3. Dry fit for the strips. I think it adds a nice touch to the doors. Thanks for all the comments, likes and stuff. More updates this weekend. I am curious, what is your day job? You are amazingly skilled and have a fantastic shop for someone who is just a “hobbyist”... I’ve been working on all the discrete parts and (seemingly) isolated tasks for a long-a$$ time, and today, things started to come together. It feels like I’m talking with ATC, getting clearance for final approach. Could it be?? 1. Strips to secure the glass...holes drilled, and finish applied. 2. There was a hole on the top that needed epoxy filler to eliminate airflow. Should’ve done this earlier but I was on the fence whether it made a big deal. I leaned on the side of caution. 3. Drawer front tacked in place. 4. Screw holes drilled to mount drawer fronts. Yes, glue is an option to attach the fronts, but I like the flexibility that screws provide. 5. Upper drawers done. 6. I’m sure you’re going to be very happy with the Avallo 2000. It looks like they do fantastic work! My day job is in the tech industry, so yeah this is just a break from day-to-day stuff. Most everyone has a hobby that seems amazing to others...like I’m in awe of people who play instruments or otherwise musically or artistically inclined. Thanks @The Squiggler. I’lll use some high quality weather stripping. The drawers have self-closing slides, and the doors will have door catches, so both will have a secure, snug closing action. It was “Glass-and-Drawer-Pulls” Day. 1. Glass is siliconed into place on top. I really like the satin-etched center glass after all...thanks to my wife and her design sense. 2. Security strips attached. 3. Same with the doors. 4. Prepping a jig to drill screw holes for the pulls. The colored arrows keep me from drilling the wrong holes, as this jig has been used just a few times.? 5. Attaching the door pulls. 6. Drawers, doors, and top all tentatively ready for final-final, which I will do in the next week or so. Need to let the silicone fully cure. 7. Drawer and door clearance confirmed. 8. Gettin’ close! Because of a design omission, I needed to make the base a little taller, to accommodate the doors swinging open (they travel downwards, as you probably noticed). I also decided to add a fifth point of support (center of the X) after talking with an engineer friend. The base might’ve been fine with the original 4 points of support, but the 5th point was easy and unobtrusive. I also had to build a stretcher-like device to lift off the temporary work platform, and set into place to attach the base...cuz it’s so freaking heavy and awkward (kind of like my first girlfriend). I digress... 1. Spacers to make the base taller. 2. Confirming the height of the 5th point of support. If it’s too short, it doesn’t function. Too tall and I’ve created a high point. Balls-on is best. ?? 3. Drilling holes to accommodate the lag bolts for base. 4. Building the “stretcher” to lift this beast. 5. Temp blocks which are slightly taller than the base. Cab will rest on these while I fasten the base. 6. Cab in place. It’s go time! 7. Base attached and back on the ground. Solid as a mo-fo rock!! 8. Silicone caulk to provide air tight seal for the top. Yes, it’s white now, but it cures to clear. The blue painters tape is to catch any caulk oozing on the inside. 9. Perr3ct amount of excess caulk. Enough to confirm a solid seal, but not a sloppy mess. A quick and thorough wipe down with a wet rag = perfect. 10. Top screwed into place, walnut hole plus glued into place. Drying overnight. Cheers! -Piggy @PigFish thanks Ray. It’s kept me sane-ish during the stay home mandate, so the patience has been a fair trade. Regarding the holes, it seemed a practical requirement for airflow.
