If you are part of the Chartreuse camp though you might enjoy my favourite night ending cocktail, the Last Word: -1 part gin -1 part Chartreuse -1 part maraschino -1 part lime Shake well and serve in a float glass. I like to put a homemade maraschino cherry (ie, much less sweet than store bought) in the bottom. If you free pour it maybe go a little lighter on the gin and the lime and a little heavier on the Chartreuse and the maraschino. It's a bitter sweet herbal complex drink. It tastes very strongly of booze, and so is for serious drinkers only. There is also a Final Word variation which replaces the gin with whiskey (Canadian Club whenever I've done it) that is a bit sweeter. There is also a Fernet About It, which replaces the gin with Fernet Branca, and is getting into the "drink on a dare" category of beverage. It can hit a certain spot for the right kind of masochist though. This one almost made my list. There is a drink called the Comanche Club that you basically make by dumping a last word and a negroni together into a shaker, reshaking and then straining into two glasses. Absolutely amazing if you are a fan of either cocktail.
Popular Post StogieSteve23
StogieSteve’s Flowering Tea Ketel Pour the following ingredients into a cocktail shaker over ice and shake vigorously for at least 30 seconds. - 1.5oz of Ketel One Vodka - .5oz of St. Germain (or less depending on how floral you like your drinks) - 1tsp of Blueberry Honey (you can use whatever honey you have) After the cocktail has been thoroughly shaken and your shaker is a nice frosty consistency, pour its contents into a rocks glass over ice. Some effort might be required shaking it if the holes got slightly clogged by the honey. Top off with Lemon Seltzer. I used Trader Joes Blueberry Lemonade Seltzer to go with the blueberry honey. Garnish with a lemon wheel and enjoy!
Popular Post Mr.T
I enjoy a good Old Fashioned most months and a caipirinha in the summer. But I Saw the Gin Fizz so I thought to add the Sloe Gin Fizz which my wife has been enjoying in our ‘shelter in place’ life. I like Sloe Gin in cocktails. So it’s 1oz Sloe Gin ( I like Plymouth Sloe Gin), 1 oz Gin (Hendricks), 1.5 fresh lemon juice, 1 tsp simple syrup, mix and shake and pour and top off with club soda and a slice of lemon and voila! Popular Post havanaclub
This is a personal favourite, never have I had a cigar with one but my wife and I enjoy one before a nice dinner. Caesar (The Americans call it a Bloody Mary with tomato juice instead of Clamato)- Pick you favourite Mott’s Clamato(clam and tomato) juice. I enjoy the “works” or “picked bean” one. -cut up Lime, rub the rim of a large glass with a lime wedge. Then rub the glass in some seasoned rimmer. I use Keg rimmer. Squeeze and toss the lime in. -toss a handful of ice in the glass and add 2 shots of vodka. I use Belvedere or grey goose. -4-5 shots of tobasco sauce (I love them spicy)-1-2 shots of Worcestershire sauce -add picked beans and put some of the juice from the jar in your large glass. (You could add celery or some add pickled onion or shrimp cocktail) -Add horseradish -pour Clamato juice in -stir and grind fresh ground pepper on the top. It slows the freezing process so you get super clear ice spheres. This is one of the ones I froze. Nice idea. The one problem I have with ice cubes is that they dilute the alcohol. Oh, and there are always a few -- I like to call them eejits -- who will put ice cubes in their single malt, for which the only suitable punishment is tying them to a chair and force-feeding them raw haggis while playing a medley of Andrew Lloyd Webber musical tunes on the bagpipes. YMMV, of course...
