Popular Post WineAcrobat
tfuns as my friend and I lovingly call this cigar I think is the most consistently great smoke I've had the pleasure to own so far. Last week after a very disappointing 8-9-8 the night before I decided that I wanted a redo so I grabbed one of these so I could be sure that it was good and boy howdy. I was also reminded of how well tea pairs with cigars. I was drinking a 2018 Harvest Rou Gui, which was also very very good. But to the review: The cold draw on this was the usual combination of sweet tobacco, light coffee, and sweet wood, maybe with some type of turbanado sugar in there also, but just beautiful, light, and sweet. I used the pigtail on this one, and was so surprised at how well it drew without being cut. I later on in the smoke gave it a cut and it was even better. Lighting- Upon lighting there was an immediate toasty, nutty tobacco quality, maybe peanut, beautiful draw. It channeled a bit but quickly corrected itself. First 1/3- I can't really imagine a better cigar for my palate. Snappy dried cedar, subtle white pepper, very sweet retrohale made up of the sweet wood taste from the cold draw, stone fruit that I would want to call cherry, but not quite, vanilla cookie, sweet dried grass, honeycomb, sweet tobacco, and a bitter spice that i called as nutmeg. The ash fell at about 1 1/4 inches. (also, billows of creamy smoke, I didn't write this down originally but the smoke production was amazing throughout the entire smoke with just ripping off the pigtail) Second 1/3- Around the start of the second third of this cigar the retrohale still had the sweetness as it originally had but now was showing some savory dried herbs, the sugar quality also changed, more of a burnt brown sugar quality, sweet licorice, uncooked cookie (sugar cookie dough), bitter chocolate powder, sweet spices(cinnamon, nutmeg, cedar), bitter wood, a salty mineral like quality, started to show what I think of as classic sweet tea note (like lipton black). This is where I made my first actual cut on the cigar, the smoke bellowed out even thicker and richer then before, chocolate, nougat became pronounced. Last 1/3- This is where I think this cigar really shines in my opinion. I am a very seldom smoker and so a lot of times the buildup of bitter or peppery quality on the last 1/3 of a cigar is to much for me. Not on tfun's. Somehow there is even more smoke production, Bitter chocolate, black pepper, sweet cream, tea all dominate, I just wrote wow a few times and commented on how amazing the smoke production was. There was that sweet fruity note that you get when you open the humidor along with cappuccino, slightly medicinal herbs, tart cherry, rich tobacco and cedar. I ended up smoking this almost down to the cap it was so amazingly flavorful. When it really got down there there was even a bit of a cucumber skin note that came out. All and all, 10/10 for me this is just as good as it gets. Thanks for reading if you got this far and I'm excited to post more reviews.
