Do you use different techniques for dress boxes vs SLBs? Have a box of Monte 4s arriving shortly with health warnings from spain and would love to remove them. Is a blow dryer the best approach??? Popular Post Markspring1978 Posted May 28, 2020 Popular Post Share Posted May 28, 2020 A couple thoughts. First, it goes without saying, take the cigars out and keep in your humidor while removing. Hair dryer works okay, older boxes not as well. With older boxes I peel off the top layer of paper which leaves the sticky residue covered with the raw paper. I then spread a thin layer of peanut butter on this and leave for a few hours. This will then wipe off with minimal elbow grease. Removing the glossy/top layer of paper will allow the oils in the PB to penetrate and get it off in no time. Subcomandante Posted May 28, 2020 Share Posted May 28, 2020 Depending on the age of the box/stickers and how “good” they were put on, I was able to peel off the labels pretty good with no blow dryer on a box I got in Mexico. I was semi careful. I didn’t bother being careful too much and it came out pretty good. Just wanted the awful mouth cancer photos pasted all over the box gone. Check out this box of Edmundo Dantes Conde Belicoso before & after using this method...not 100%, but certainly an improvement over what it was previously! benfica_77 Posted June 5, 2020 Author Share Posted June 5, 2020 So I used my wife's blow dryer and systematically worked from one edge to another. There was a sticky residue left so I did use Isopropyl with a towel and just rubbed it on the sticky parts.
