Popular Post Nino
Learned today that the long-time manager of LCDH Partagas Grecia Quiñones has been "transferred" and now works at the Parque Central cigar store. She took over after the arrest of long-time manager Abel Esposito who created the Partagas Encuentros meetings. Not sure what it will mean for those meetings yet.... 4

LLC
The Parque Central is a great hotel, lobby and atmosphere but probably my least favorite store. Maybe she can improve the selection and vibe there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
La_Tigre
I’ve never been to that shop or in the hotel. Didn’t see a reason until now.

It is confirmed that Rene Valdes will be taking over LCDH Partagas. He was formerly manager at La Cabaña. From what I read LCDH Partagas is being shut down due to a collapse in the rear part of the building and will be moving to another location ... 1

That's too bad to see. Grecia is a wonderful woman and most gracious host to all who visit that LCDH. Will have to visit her at her new site next time. I hope Vladimir and the rest of the crew are still at the Partagas store. 9 hours ago, nino said: From what I read LCDH Partagas is being shut down due to a collapse in the rear part of the building and will be moving to another location ... Just catching up on this now. Thanks for sharing this Nino. The old store was an amazing place with so much history.
Nino
Some further details/information on LCDH Partagas in Havana by Alexandre Avellar in Cigar Journal : https://www.cigarjournal.com/la-casa-del-habano-partagas-suspends-activity/ One of the world’s most representative cigar shops is suspending its activities indefinitely as of today due to a partial collapse of the old Partagás factory last Sunday. It is well known that the building has been in dilapidated condition for years. For this reason, the factory activities at this iconic site were suspended at the end of 2011. At the time, a remodeling plan had been set but the repair work has never in fact begun. The plans for the building have been changing over the years, as the old factory was first supposed to resume activities after the repairs. Plans then changed from the site to house the Cuban Tobacco Museum to becoming a hotel and then back to being the Cuban Tobacco Museum. The truth is that neither plan seemed to be effectively set in motion, and now the recent events will definitely force action to be taken. The collapse at the rear part of the factory left the area uncovered and the inside part of the building is now completely exposed to the elements. No one was reportedly hurt, as the area has been deactivated for some time. The building’s general condition seems to be deteriorating and it is no longer safe to continue activities at the shop because the future is uncertain. Caracol, the Cuban chain store that runs the La Casa del Habano Partagás, has had plans to move the shop to a new location since the beginning of 2019, but not much has been done in this direction. Due to the plans changing frequently and little action having been taken, the cigar community is looking apprehensive and hoping that this representative factory will now get the attention it deserves.

Nino
Roof collapse at Partagas mentioned in independent Cuban press. Funny thing is they comment on the building being under "renovation" since 2011 ... and refer to the CA article. https://www.14ymedio.com/nacional/desploma-fabrica-tabacos-Partagas-Habana_0_2904909490.html https://www.cigaraficionado.com/article/roof-collapse-at-cuba-s-partagas-factory-closes-iconic-casa-del-habano

Yes, there is a little park with Floridita on one end and the new location on the other end. This would be just behind the Kempinski hotel and close to the Bacardi building.
