Fuzz
Posting a new thread as a few people asked for an update on my kitchen renovation, and I didn't want to clog up the "FOH: A Week in Pictures" thread. After 4 weeks (and more money than I originally budgeted for ?), my new kitchen is 99% complete! Only one or two things left to do and it is all done. The old kitchen: Demolition commences: As the kitchen had been bought by someone (500km away!), the tradies were taking extra care not to destroy anything. Granite bench tops came out almost all intact (1 minor break which can glue back without a seam). Re-piping gas line for outdoor kitchen and new 3 phase wiring for the induction cook top and ovens. All gone!
Popular Post Fuzz
Installation commences: Rangehood and ovens going in.Yes, the rangehood really is that big! (obligatory, "That's what she said! Woooooo!")
Popular Post Fuzz
Bulkheads and cornices installed. There was a 10mm gap between the false ceiling and overhead cupboards that needed to be filled and blended back, as the ceiling was not level. Go figure, when the house was built, they never make sure the gyprock ceilings and walls are level. As long as they looked level, good enough. Heck, I found out a few years ago, one of the walls in another room is not perpendicular to the 2 adjoining walls. Sanded and freshly painted (did it myself to save a little cash). Caesarstone benchtops going in. Whilst I really liked my old granite tops, I found there was too much glare from the downlights. This time, we went for a matt finish in the concrete range (Supernatural Cloudburst). The texture is really nice under your hand, and no more glare from the downlights, while still scattering light to brighten the kitchen. This is a nifty device for making sure the slab joints are flat. The device clamps down on to each slab and pulls the 2 pieces together. Small padded screws apply pressure at different points to level the join. Splashbacks are the same as the benchtops, to give a continuous look.

Fuzz
Thanks, everyone. The renovation has gone relatively smoothly, with only a few minor hiccups. Overall, I'm quite happy with how everything has turned out. Just getting used to having stuff in new locations.

Will post pics here once it's 100%!
