Boveda Calibration Kit Accuracy

So I got a Boveda calibration kit and I put the same hygrometer in it twice and after 24 hours the the results were different by about 2%. The temperature was about the same as well so I'm not sure if thats what was causing the difference. I know boveda claims they are accurate to about .5% but just how true is that?

I've found that the manual calibration option works much better than the kit. At least it did for me.

What kind of hygrometer were you calibrating? I have found the Boveda kits to be very accurate, but it’s paramount that the temperature is steady at 20°C for the entire 24hrs.

I find the Boveda calibration kit can "wander" +/- 1%. It probably isn't going to be quite as accurate as the salt test, but provided the hygrometer is of good quality I find it accurate enough for my purposes. And you need to make sure the temp is consistent as @Tdm_86 said.

I'm using a SensorPush so I don't think its that. The temp this time was slightly more consistent this time sitting around 19.5C the whole time as opposed to swinging between 17 and 18 last time

I had the same experience.

It didn't work for me. I had to use manual calibration. There was 4% between boveda 65% and butler. Between 69% and butler was 2% so I did manual calibration and now it looks fine.

Tbh I wouldn't buy Boveda Butler again.

I think that is exactly your problem. The stated accuracy of SensorPush at 25C is plus minus 3% "typically" and can be up to 4.5%. 

Our hygrometers are not some sceintific specialised equipment. It's definitely not going to be accurate with a one point calibration. It's there for a "guide", nothing more.

After a year of having mine it started being super inaccurate. Even after calibrating multiple times. They eventually replaced it after a month of back and forth emails.

As @LordAnubis has already mentioned the SensorPush is advertised to have an accuracy of ±3% typical ±4.5% maximum @ 25°C / 77°F, from 20% - 80% RH. Boveda packs are advertised to be accurate within ±1%. So if you're using the 75% RH and a SensorPush, the hygrometer can read anywhere between 69.5% and 80.5% and still be "accurate" per the manufacturer's specs.
