Reverb
Almost every time I pull off a Cuban cigar band it comes off like this photo. Does that happen to you too? Why is that? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
Popular Post MrBirdman
Yes, and I take the shoddy band construction as a good sign it’s authentic ?. 2
NSXCIGAR
Bands are 2-ply. The glue sticks to the back layer so when you peel the band it separates.
Happy2BeHere
Yep, I let it burn down close to the band without burning it, in the hopes that it’ll loosen the glue. Failing that, I just try to slide it off the cut end without unpeeling it at all, little by little as it burns down
BuzzArd
Many come off whole. I find that if they have rested enough the bands become loose and I can slide them off the end of the stick. At that point I can get to the inner flap and separate it that way. This method yields a far better result for band preservation.
Popular Post lovethehaze
Lately I have been pulling them forward ... yes over the ash ... as mentioned once the cigar is rested they move around but as I pull back they seem to damage the wrapper. If I pull over the ash they slide right off. It’s money ! Obviously not over that long ash pic people like to take but right after ashing. Give it it a try I think you will be pleasantly surprised. maverickdrinker
I wave a soft flame (bic lighter) under the band to gently warm up the glue if I want to keep the band. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It happens to me somtimes as well when I tried to peel off the cigar bands. I prefer to slide down the cigar bands before puffing for collection BTW. Reverb
Two-ply bands, that’s the why, thanks! Sliding over the ash, that’s challenging.... I’ll have to try a soft flame to help melt the glue without burning the band if I want to save the band. I usually just want to remove the band so I can nub it, so I just deal with it. But I’ve always wanted to shellac hundreds of bands onto a coffee table....is that the way to do it, shellac? Maybe a polyurethane? Any threads on doing that?Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Partmonte
Happens to me with non-Cubans as well

I hate it when the band feels loose and *would* move but a spot of glue is bonded to the wrapper. Really grips my shit and you end up with a mangled last third, battling with a flapping wrapper. ?
