Every week we're going to have a poll about a certain quote and who said it. Could be a famous quote from history, a line from a movie or a song, the opening line to a novel, something very topical, etc... 

We'll create a poll with the quote and a question based on it, from the answer options you just have to pick the correct one. :thumbsup:

NO GOOGLING!! And it may not help you anyway - depending on how tricky we get with the question. We're using the honour system. It's just a bit of fun. If you know, you know. If you don't, have a stab in the dark or an educated guess (if you prefer that term ;)). 

You may elaborate about your choice in the topic thread below if you wish but no posting of anything that gives the answer away to those who haven't voted.

i'm guessing you are reasonably youthful. not that i was around at the time but i'd argue that he would be the second most famous brit at the time of WWII. behind the obvious first place, in every sense. i remember my parents speaking of him in terms that one might speak of a celebrity today. they thought of him as one of the war's great heroes. the bloke who outfoxed rommell in north africa, let alone everything in europe and beyond. also, apparently the least tactful person in history. 

i think perhaps more history might be in order.

Yes not quite youthful, but at a few years from middle age.

You are probably correct! I still find it funny. But I'll try to read up on my history, with a batting average of 2/5 so far, I don't think there's much risk of it making me any worse at these contests :)

if you enjoy history, he is one of the more interesting characters.

Ok, I went full in on Montgomery. It just sounded like him. The British fought and kept Al Alimein. Patton and the Yanks kept the rest...
