cfc1016 Posted October 21, 2020 Cherry and walnut serving platter. 100% pure tung oil. 3,000 grit sanding on all surfaces. Haven't made any ashtrays in a while, but this was just as fun.

I'm sure I'm not the only one here whose transposing that into a guitar body and feeling very covetous! 🤔 That could be fun. I'm not delving into acoustics or neck building, but an electric body would be in my wheelhouse. The laminate could be really cool. I love facing "hidden" surfaces with high grade figuring, just to reward the people who look under the hood. Guitar body is a good opportunity for that, with the multi-species laminating. That would warrant a proper French polish shellac treatment, too. I just realized I have been employing the mullet theory of design. Business in front, party in the back. Somebody stop me.
