It is difficult to think of hosting a bi-partisan election night party when one side sees the other as rioting, looting arsonists and the other sees their opponents as Nazi, KKK fascists. Neither

I think we all know it is a cluster**** out there of political intolerance largely fueled by media manipulation in all its forms.   At some stage those who don't like it need to take a stand and

I’m having a small one this morning ?

Another thing that works great; when you agree 99% of the time about politics.  I did not even plan for this, but boy is it an asset.

Now if I can just get her to be a little more of a 2nd amendment supporter, I'll have it made.

Ha I always thought it would end up that way for me!

I remember when it was something everyone watched and at the end of the night people would cheers their beers, no matter the outcome. "Ah well" kind of attitude. With the partizanship and zealotry of some people, I don't feel I can risk of even getting in to a political conversation because both sides get so triggered when they are challenged, I disagree and agree with both on some things but never full in and never 100% support a politician. When I hear ferverent right or left arguements, I just roll my eyes, and just think to myself, "I'm sure theyre a good person, regardless".

My wife is overbearingly left, so I have to ignore her tonight tonight too. Sigh.

Right now I am just wondering if I will be lighting up my first Talisman tomorrow or a plugged Upmann Connie A.

With the trends being set in FL, looking like a Talisman.

To our Aussie hosts and friends, are things divisive there? Any threat of civil war? Or Socialism? From a distance it seems rather easy going and everyone is united. Been giving some real thought about making the move and changing countries.

The grass is not always greener!

We are naturally suspicious of all politicians, all parties. Generally we give them the time and attention that they deserve.

Really enjoyed the conversation earlier with @Elpresidente @Bijan and others whose handles I’m not sure of - this was not a good election for a party if finality is desired.

Apparently @Ken Gargett is excited about Bruce moving to Australia...but I’m not calling it yet. Bruce may yet remain in our fair and troubled republic!

I actually hope Bruce moves next to Ken. They become friends over a period of time, and one day, decide to go on a karaoke night together.

Ken sits through many sessions of Bruce singing like garbage. Many of these songs are actually songs written by Bruce himself.

The breaking point comes towards the end of the night when when Bruce decides to play one last song. An song by Adele, and Bruce can't even manage the range of an Adele Song! (I know right, a guy who sang Born in the U.S.A. can hit multiple note and a falsetto).

The next day, Ken then burns everything Bruce to a cinder and urinates on it as close to Bruce's property as possible without getting a fine.

Bruce sees Ken and says , "Hello neighbor".

To which Ken replies: "Go do inappropriate sexual acts to yourself. I need a new identity, don't I?"

(Later that month, Rob Ayala posts a headline that Kenneth Garrett has murdered Bruce Springsteen. A Bruce Springsteen that was trying to escape the extremist of fans in the US.)

Their secret--no discussion of politics within the home--ever.

As someone with a pol sci degree, I don't think I could have no discussions of politics or be with someone who has much different political allegiance than I do.

I also have a poly sci degree, my wife hates talking politics with me.  Says I’m too condescending and a$$. She may have a point there, her arguments are embarrassing and I often quote Billy Madison:

“Everyone in this room is now dumber, for having listened to it.  I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.”

Wow I’d tend to think boring. My wife and I have 40 years together and we differ on a lot of issues, even politics. But we discuss things openly between us and respect each other’s opinion.
I’d say the secret is: respect for one another regardless of faith, political view etc etc

See!

FOH US election party will become a thing every 4 years featuring:

  • Zoom Telecast
  • Blind tasting comp
  • Poker comp
  • Therapist on hand in the form of  Dr Heidi Hottinski.
  • Time out corner
  • cocktail competition.

There is nothing to be afraid about US politics if addressed in the correct manner. :D
