La_Tigre
12/11 Sign ups are already happening at the hospital. When would you get it? edit: 12/15 Welllllllllllll............looks like we won the guinea pig lottery. We both will get the jab tomorrow morning. Wish us luck. We will report back after and the following few days. Let’s hope it’s not a Shirley Jackson type Lottery we’ve won. Gonna be some serious Scrooge McDucking swimming through Cuba’s Habanos soon. Hell, PM us and stone us to death with Cubans....??

Popular Post tigger
I'd normally prefer more data, but I'll get it as soon as it's available. Largely because of a hope that it will reduce the risk for some at-risk loved ones.
Chibearsv
I would certainly get vaccinated as soon as it was available for me. The only caveat to that would be that I hope everyone at higher risk than me would have been vaccinated first. I'd hate to think that someone over 70, or front line healthcare workers, or care facility workers, or, or, or, etc. wouldn't all have first crack at the vaccine before me. I've been able to steer clear and stay safe so far, I should be able to stay safe for another 6 months or more if necessary.
Popular Post JZBdano
Considering the stats I'll probably pass. I think it went through my household already so it'd be a waste of good vaccine.
joeypots
I think by the time it get's to me in the States England will have quite a bit of data about efficacy and side effects. So I'll get in line ASAP. There are some serious research scientists/doctors here in the summer community I live in. I'm close to Boston and the big medical centers. I've spoken to a few and the anecdotal consensus is that the world wide cooperation and lack of profiteering for this vaccine has been fantastic.
Popular Post djrey
Hard pass for me on something that is so rushed. Based on the statistics I am more than confident without a vaccine. Also gives it to someone else that may actually need it.
cleelv
Happy to let others who need it more get it first, but sign me up.
Popular Post JoeyBones777
Hard pass for me. First RNA vaccine, rushed trials, no idea of long term effects, scary side effects reported plus statistically I'm more likely to die of the flu and I don't do flu vaccines either. My household likely had it last January though we were never tested for it. A couple recent studies show robust multilateral immune response in those that have already had it. So much so that immunity is likely to last years.
Popular Post mprach024
I just read the report issued on Pfizer vaccine last night, yep there’s side effects, but amazing is the percentage of the side effects that the placebo patients got were often not much different (headaches 60% vs 40%). Yep your arm will be sore, yep you might get a fever for a day with some chills, no different than when getting the MMR. Vaccines only rid the world of diseases when everyone gets them. Sign me up as soon possible, which here in the USA will likely be in April or May after our front line workers and elderly get their doses.
Popular Post Monterey
I like the people who think they are trying to chip us/lojack us. They write up their conspiracies while on their phone THAT CURRENT LO JACKS YOU! Why bother lo jacking half the population when nearly 100% of people do it themselves with their phones. Rant over. 6 2
NSXCIGAR
I would ordinarily pass, but it's probably going to be practically necessary for travel. I don't want to find myself quarantined if an outbreak occurs wherever I may happen to be. Otherwise, I'm in a low-risk group with little to no exposure to high-risk people so why would I take it? I would also recommend people get antibody tests to see if they've already had it before getting vaccinated.
ChangBang
Will ideally hold off as long as I can to see how it goes with the possible side effects. If it becomes a standard for travel, I may take the plunge

bates40
I got the anti-body test and unfortunately have have not had Covid (though I had it when travelling in January) - I will get the vaccine at work, but have been advised to expect wide-spread Covid-like symptoms immediately after taking the vaccine. I also understand the Covid strain may chance year-to-year so this may end up turning out to be an annual thing.
Popular Post Lunettesman
I'm pro vaccine. However i won't get that one. I still have doubts about this rushed program.
mtd057
I am not terribly concerned about the reported side effects now and will probably be more at ease by the time the vaccine is available to me. My guess is that won't be until late 2021.
Popular Post DaBoot
I won’t be doing the vaccine. I don’t believe if you are healthy, this virus poses any threat. A rushed corona virus vaccine that has never been done, and barely tested, given to the most sick and elderly population of the world, probably isn’t a great idea either. The power of personal choice. Do what is best for yourself.just hoping the world doesn’t go vaccine card crazy
Popular Post Hammer Smokin'
once it's offered, I'm getting it. absolutely. for those worried about getting it, put yourself in the shoes of the front liners who don't have an option.

This new mRNA vaccine is brand new and different than how flu shots work where they take the virus and mangle it up into a bunch of pieces and inject into you, hoping your body will recognize some piece of it next time it comes around. The Pfizer and Modernas vaccines sequenced the mRNA of the “crown” of the virus, the outer spiky layer that makes it a type of coronavirus, and that’s what’s injected into you. It’s actually quite brilliant, and is why basically once your body builds antibodies to recognize the crown after roughly 10 days after exposure, it’s 95% effective. You aren’t getting any Covid injected into you, just the messenger RNA that has the instructions for the spiky outer layer. Could it mutate so that this vaccine won’t help? Yes but it would have to be a mutation of the crown/outer layer. Where as with flu any countless number of possible mutations makes last years vaccine useless and requires annual doses. The odds that the crown mutates annually is pretty slim, will we need another vaccine in future? We certainly might. Will we need it frequently? Most likely not. This is why the Pfizer and Modernas are exciting, and also while people are scared because all they hear is “brand new type of vaccine”, it’s actually quite simple and brilliant. The AstraZeneca is the old school methodology, which is why their efficacy results are more in line with annual flu vaccines around 60%. Don’t believe the nonsense stats of the second half dose getting them to 90%, that’s not been verified yet through any publication, smells of data manipulation, but we’ll wait and see.
