Popular Post Sir Diggamus
I was able to find a little time over the weekend for a smoke so it was the perfect opportunity to get a Short going. This cigar is colorado in color and firm to the squeeze. Aroma is sweet tobacco prior to lighting. After a clip and light the cigar it starts off with flavors of white pepper and cream. The burn and draw are are spot in and there is plenty of smoke. As the first third continues on a fresh bread note develops, a more mild flavor than I usually get from a Short As the cigar moves into the 2/3 the bread note goes away and there is a bit of that "Partagas Spice" along with and back and forth between white and black pepper notes. Entering the last third of the cigar the fresh bread note returns, as does hints of cream. I smoke this guy close to the nub. For me, Partagas has always been a marca that smokes really well young. I like the D4s and P2s with less than 3 years of age on the box code and don't get much out of those sticks once aged. Some of the other vitolas (8-9-8, Lusi, etc...) do very well after some age and for me can be hit or miss when young. I find the Short is in the middle of these two categories in a good way. I really like the Short young, and find that these smokes can develop to be layered and complex after some age. This Short had some nice flavor transitions but wasn't overly complex, if I could have these stick around another 5 years (I don't count on it) I feel they have promise to develop so much more. 90 rating
