2021 HSA price increases.

Makes you wonder why the island itself doesn’t have yearly price increases. I don’t get it. With the exception of the recent price changes which many here related to the CUC value dropping, the island prices had been the same for the last 8 plus years.

Let’s see... Demand - Up, Supply - Restricted, Price - ? It’s been a while since I took economics, but seems to me 3-5% is probably on the low side of what they could push through if they wanted to. It will be interesting to see what happens to the supply/demand picture once the world (finally) opens up again.

I don't know if this Excel chart is accurate or not, but allegedly it is current island prices (2020) and they were raised quite a bit from 2019:

Yes but that was supposedly due to the CUC being phased out and being able to get cheap CUC on the black/grey? market (resulting in something like a 50% discount if paying cash).

Yes, on the surface, pretty large increases. But USD to CUC conversion has been around 1 to 1.5 lately. At that conversion rate, a box of Fundies would actually be about 5 CUC Cheaper in real terms. If we get back to the days on .92 or .95 conversion rates, than the island becomes a far less attractive buying option.

You cut out the first part of the sentence.

And as the other have followed up, with the CUC drop and the new conversion, prices on the 2019 spreadsheet is actually cheaper.

Just lit up a Siglo IV purchased in France in October 2017 and calculated the price increase since then. 36% in less than 4 years. All of a sudden I regret buying only one box when they popped up on 24:24 a few weeks ago. 🤣
