Trinidad Coloniales BSM MAR 20 VVRW#2

This cigar was a tale of two halves! 

 

Opening: strong spice blast. I’ve noticed a huge variation in the openings from this box. Once the spice subsides a semi sweet pastry with butter appears. This and dark honey have been the main flavors I’ve gotten from this box so far, no wonder why they’ve quickly became my go-to!

The flavors get richer and darker into the first third, then sweeter. The flavor is full and strength medium. Twang pops it’s head in too. Now sweet tea. I see other people have gotten coffee notes off Coloniales, I have not from this box however. I do have a box with Colorado maduro wrappers so I’m curious to see if that box produces much darker flavors. Now that dark honey enters!

Now some more creaminess enters. Some loose construction causes a bunch of touch ups and take a bit away from the flavor. Some lovely brown sugar joins the pastry. The zoom call takes some of my attention, and the loose construction causes a ton of touch ups that distract me from the flavor. I have no problem with a few touch ups throughout the smoke, but having to touch up between every other puff became tiresome. 

 

Overall, the first half was borderline spectacular, and the second half was ruined by being under filled. This box has had fantastic construction besides this and another one a few months back, so luck of the draw. 

 

I’ll give this one a 90 overall, held up by the phenomenal first half!

I have a BSM JUN 20 box that's killing it too.  These guys are great.  So long as the quality stays high, I see many more in my future. 

Must be divinely inspired.  I see Jesus joined your Zoom session to discuss them

I'd agree with this review.  Amazing flavor right off the top, with hints of cream and honey and baking spices.  Consistent all the way through, but did get a bit loose in the end.  Overall a very enjoyable smoke and now you have me wanting to order another box.  Damn you Karl!😂

If I could only have one brand in my humidor, stack me deep with Trinidad and I'd be fairly content. They cover nearly all the sizes, construction is consistently good, and they're pretty much ready to smoke off the shelf (age well, too).

Nice descriptive review! Sounds wonderful. I wish I could distinguish all the flavors and notes while enjoying a cigar. Just not as refined yet.

I have my days TBH! Some days I can’t distinguish flavors easily, and some I can pick them out clearly. Past reviews will help me figure out flavors that I’m having a hard time with as well!

I prefer to say she’s a bulimic supermodel Corona gorda.  Love the coloniales when they are on

If you've got a 14 foot single, that might still qualify as a PC using Kaptain Karl's Kompetition Kriteria.
