Popular Post Kaptain Karl
Dark, bitter black coffee, spice and a touch of ammonia. The bitterness a half inch subsides a bit, replaced by a touch of cocoa and cream, then some sweetish baking spice. The cigar is definitely under weight and is smoking quite fast. 2/3 The bitterness thankfully has disappeared. The flavor is medium light. Nothing special or noteworthy. Some black coffee, cocoa, spice and some bitter cream. I had my first Pfizer shot today but somehow my palette is as good as it’s been for awhile...go figure! 3/3 The bitterness is back, along with some dirty earth. Overall, this was a pretty boring cigar. With how good Coloniales and BPC’s are smoking right now, I may have to use this box for gifting as it’s just meh. 75 points, C or 2/5, whatever floats your boat! I’ll wait until I can get my hands on 19/20 stock before buying more Monte 4’s. I’ve had 1 excellent and 2 average boxes of 4’s so far, so the batting average pre-2019 doesn’t seem all that great.
Mrcpt
Just got a couple ‘20 display boxes of these. I know I should let them rest a few months but I’m very tempted to break one out now lol.
Midas
I have an 18 box of Monte 4s, similar problems as yours, under filled, hints of cocoa but mainly earthy. I’d like to pick up a box of 2020s and see how they compare. Going to give that vacuum sealing technique a try when I smoke my next one and see if that can help. Mickey D
Thanks for the review. I added the Monte #4 from the 24:24 over the weekend. Aug 18. Looking forward to comparing in several months.
smbauerllc
I have smoked a fair number of No.3's and No.4's from 2019/2020 and have thought they were excellent. Certainly never any bitterness or ammonia and seem to burn as expected at about an hour. The general consensus seems to be that 2019 and 2020 have been particularly good years for cc's of all marcas and vitolas. I know that I have been pleased with pretty much everything I have had from those years Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
Walter19
Monte's either hit or they don't, not much middle ground with me. I've got a box of No.4's that are taking up valuable space and could care less about.
