Dissecting a Reserva

Recommended Posts

It looks OK. to my poor eyes.  All long filler, no floor rubbish. I’m just not sure how this was deconstructed, my guess with a knife, making it seem to to be worse than it is.

MY GUESS 😇

I don't see anything obviously suspicious...

The wrapper and binder look fine but the filler looks kind of weird, like little pieces of kindling and not leaves. I've seen it on suspect cigars, but I haven't dissected too many cigars (especially known good ones) so it could be due to poor storage.

Edit:

Here's one I dissected where the filler didn't look like this:

Here's one that did look like this unfortunately I didn't get/post the pictures of the dissection:

It looked like long filler to me, too. What am I missing?

I suppose they look a little brittle but it doesn't jump out at me. It definitely looks like less filler than I would expect. And seco and ligero is usually a little darker in general. And the second binder leaf is pretty thick.

But you kind of have to really look hard at it.

I agree. Apart from looking dry and brittle, nothing looks obviously wrong to me. Not sure what I’m missing.
