El Presidente
....I have $100 on this result Will let it roll to the 1st and then fill you in. This is not a question on politics but rather general discourse (conversation/discussion).
Fuzz
I have an idea of what you think it is, so I'll do what I usually do, vote against the majority.
Popular Post SCgarman
The title of the thread is a loaded question. I'm not sure how you avoid it being political because as we all know well those 3 words correlate directly to politics. So as an American that is all I will say. Over and out.
ElJavi76
I agree with @SCgarman on the nature of the thread. Left, centrist, and right have only ONE context and that's political. Nobody asks, do you lean right or left on the amount of seco leaf used in tobacco? If we're down to get dirty, we can just go ahead and start uploading our voter registration cards. See how many "like- minded" friends we have among us. LoL
Spaceman Spiff
Wow the results have changed drastically since I voted last night, I'm really quite surprised. I have always known FOH to stay mostly neutral which is refreshing in these polarizing times.
Popular Post SpecialK
I saw it as FOH the organization (Mods / Leadership) are centrist in practice as everyone in a business should be (in my humble opinion) . We the unwashed masses who have the privilege of being members here are more conservative or leaning to the right.. I think most people who smoke cigars (those who I know personally) are conservative as we are ..ahem... of a certain age range... I'm already turning into my father.. GET OFF MY LAWN !! 4
ElJavi76
Let's turn to the dictionary... shall we? I forfeit my vote cause the poll is asking something that, either isn't possible or my simple mind doesn't comprehend.
Popular Post 99call
I'm centre-LEFT leaning myself. and have found the forum to be fair but ultimately centre-RIGHT leaning. I think thats to be expected. You get the odd bollinger bolshevik like myself, but cigars are a monied passion and will generally attract more rightwing people. I do get a bit frustrated with the endless 'commie bashing' that seems to go on, and allowed. Most of it is against the backdrop of whats happening in Cuba, which I totally get. but in coming from the UK, where we have a mix of both Capitalist and Socialist principles, I find the presentation of socialism as the cause of all evil, to be utterly farcical, and notion that's given far too much air time. All that said the forum is a great place to chew the fat about a miriad of things. It can't be all things to all people. 8

Seems like the question was What is the discourse….What direction is the conversation in the threads…? NOT what is the political affiliation of any one member, groups of members, members as a whole or site owner, or organization as a whole. The question is the direction of political navigation in the site by conversation in the forum. In general, it is our belief that the DISCOURSE is xxxx xxxxxx at xxxxx (will update after poll closed). A large number of votes to one direction will make it obvious what political affiliation the masses are lurking in…the OPPOSITE of that vote. 🤣

I did not vote since I view politics through an authoritarian/libertarian perspective and reject the left/right paradigm. But, I can't resist the old joke: "Q. What do you call a centrist who is middle of the road. A. Road kill." 😉 1
Akela3rd
I've been sorting out a lot of vinyl today and listening to a lot of Test Dept especially the stuff they recorded for and with the miners in the '84 UK miners' strike. At the moment my head is full of hard left radical and caring socialist ideals. It was of it's time and that time is my youth. I'll pass on the vote and sit here with a cigar and ponder how it all seemed so black and white back then. Popular Post bassistheplace
Bold question. I've seen plenty of both "sides" in discussions of life matters outside cigars. And i appreciate how intelligent this community is as a whole. That's why i show up almost daily

ElReyDel757
The forum mods are completely fair and shut down biased political discussion. They do a great job of keeping everyone on point. However, based on my voracious reading of the forum daily for around 6 years, I sense the majority of members are center-right.
saltbox
Might be interesting to run another poll after asking where people identify themselves. Would be cool to see if there's a gap between how people identify themselves vs. perceive others on the forum.

Then it all becomes a huge train wreck from there. The forum has proven over and over again, that it can have a productive and respectful discussions about politics in a non-American, non-specific way. I appreciate that you may want no part of thread of that nature, but as far as I can determine....it would be within the rules, and not necessarily a train wreck.

Popular Post MrBirdman
FOH is a pretty calm and moderate place to exist online - outside of politics I take centrist to reflect a more “live and let live” attitude which is part of what I like here. It has a masculine edge, for sure, which might be seen by some as regressive/right-wing, but I don’t see that at all here. The FOH community values responsible personal liberty (we’re cigar smokers after all) but also has many communitarian attributes - the free and enthusiastic sharing of knowledge, even cigars at times. It’s welcoming of newcomers, so long as they respect the forum’s rules (formal and informal). I don’t factor in the wingnuts. Every forum has them; the internet has made them an everyday hazard of online existence. We’re fortunate that the mods deal swiftly with those who cross the line. So I answered centrist. As an American who has to battle the media’s daily efforts to infantilize us into the “political side-ification” of everything, that’s how I can best respond to the query.
