skid11
I was fortunate enough to attend the Penfolds New Bin Release dinner last Friday night and apart from the great food and top wines everyone seemed to have a good night and left well and truly pissed and happy !:-D The New Bin wines (2003) are great value especially the 389 and 407. The 407 is excellent value due to the fact that 2003 was a not so good year quanity wise for the prestigous Bin 707 so these great grapes ended up in the 407................. at $26 a bottle it's a steal. If you can get your hands on some do so with confidence it's drinking great now and will be even better in a few years. Topped off the evening with a Dip #
Ken Gargett
like the 389 (always do). yet to be completely convinced by 407.

The stand out wine of the night was the 407, can't say I've ever tried it before so I was pretty open minded about it with no real expectations. It was very good especially in that price range. Colt45
All sounds good! I've got a '97 128 & 407, and a '98 389. I keep forgetting I have them, and should probably crack them soon.
JMH
Big fan of both the wines ('96 389 & I think... '98 407 at the moment). Found them to have quite a different nature - 389 being a more complex elegant wine, & the 407 being a fairly bold powerful wine.
skid11
I agree with you JHM..................... The 389 is a classic and the 407 is big, bold and fruity without being over the top. Definately a wine with balls :-D Colt if you need a hand drinking them mate drop me a line ;-)

Colt45
» Colt if you need a hand drinking them mate drop me a line ;-) Skid, you fire up that grill of yours, and I'll bring those, plus a couple of bottles of '97 Wynns Coonawarra John Riddoch, and a '96 Barwang Winemaker's Reserve cab.
