Chapel Hill Wine Tasting

Went to a Chapel Hill wine dinner last night............... Great food and fun. Michael Frago the winemaker (formerly Tatachilla) ran through a brief history of the Chapel Hill winery and his thoughts on the current new releases. He is a very knowledgable and passionate young winemaker who knows his stuff.

However the wines to me were a little disappointing but the newer blends from this McLaren Vale winery are worth a taste, namely the Cabernet Sangiovese and the Shiraz Grenache blends, along with the straight varietal Cabernet and Shiraz. The flagship wine "The Vicar" never seems to rate well, although I'm sure this will change as Frago develops it further.

The Unwooded Chardonnay is like "[chips without salt]" and does'nt do it for me.

The Pinot Grigio................ floral lolly water, what were they thinking !

Happy Slurps FOH crew:lol:
