Saturday....WAHOOO!

Went out to the ledge on Saturday with some good friends. We were on my friend Barrett's boat, a 28 ft. EdgeWater center-console with double Yamaha 225 4strokes.

4:15am and I am already out of bed before the alarm went off. I get that way before I fish. 5:15am and we leave from the Conch House Marina.

Sea's were 1-2 ft, very nice. 10 mile an hour winds, not a cloud in the sky 75 degrees midday. 60 miles later and we are at the Gulfstream.

Rigged 6 rods. 2 had Ballhoo with skirts, the rest were various lures. Lucky me, I was next to the rod that went screaming first. 45 min later and pulled in this 60 pound 5 1/2 foot long Wahoo. A personal best. He hit a Ballyhoo.

We next caught a Skip Jack...Wahoo delicacy. We rigged him up and started to slow troll. All the sudden a HUGE Wahoo came skying out from the deep blue 10 ft in the air, knocking the skip jack off the hook, we missed him and he got a free meal.

Next my buddy Matt pulled in this 30 pounder:

Tally for the day:

2 Nice Wahoo

Lost 2 Wahoo

countless beers

Some Goombay Smashes up at the marina

A damn good day with good friends and fishing:cool:

» Nice pics, beautiful fish!!

» I've had wahoo cooked a number of ways up here, good eating.

» Any smokes on the trip?

We fried most of it. Bread crumbs, spices, dipped in egg then the crumbs.

The leftover, I blackened. Very good white flaky meat. Some of the best.

Forgot the cigars. Too much going on anyways, but did have one when I got home. Cohiba Siglo III, very tasty.
