1995 Chateau Leoville Poyferre

Colt45

I love good Bordeaux, and St. Julien is a favorite region. Though 1995 is considered

a good, but not great vintage, I have no complaints.

A sip after first opening revealed gritty tannins and much oak, but pouring off two

glasses, and leaving them for two or so hours let the flavor shine through.

Very well balanced, cabernet based - almost boringly great St. Julien. Dark fruit,

light vanilla, cedar, etc.

A very good wine, and at the time, nicely priced. I don't know that I could afford

this one again, and I'm glad I have one more bottle.

A great Christmas dinner wine......

Off the subject Colt but I just listened to the new 12th man CD "Boned" ....... Richie Benaud apparently has a vineyard in France called "Ver de Flor" and his wine is released under the label " Chateau Ver de Flor" :-) Gotta love that 12th Man:clap:

the richie talking to his vineyard manager bit has been around for about 18 months. an absolute classic. if someone can tell me how, i can try and load it here. it is brilliant for anyone who has ever heard richie. no idea if it is the 12th man.

ps - should have been a terrific claret. off to a burgundy dinner tonight (had a raveneau butteaux 99 and bouchard meursault genevieres 00 last night) so if feeling cruel, will post the wines.

it ois christmas.

Agreed, an excellent wine. unfortunately, recent vintages are well out of my price range.
