Great photos. They really give feel for life on the ground.

If you ever have occasion to take photos of Barrio Chino that would be lovely. My family had relatives on the island prior to the revolution and I'd love to see the places that they called home.

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for your responses to Part 1 of this

cross country view of Cuba today. My reply to Taino, did I

smoke a El Credito peso cigar is,yes, we got ourselves 10

bundles of 25, just to smoke all day. They taste like a Quintero

Brevas, a bit rough but ok.

Part 2, we leave for Bayamo, beautiful little town west

of Santiago,and no tourists(great!!).

It was in this city that the Cuban national anthem was

written and the home of carlos manuel Céspedes who is called

"the father of the nation" because of his fight againist the

spanish occupation. Today the city is well known for It's wood

carving and art works, the penas del bolero Festival and also

the casa de la Trova. The casa is a place where cubans gather

to sing, play music, create plays, read poems, in general, to

have a good time. You can learn alot about the history of the city in a casa de la Trova. Hope you enjoy.
