bassman
Did you alone drink 100 bottles of Pampero? well you must have liked the stuff. I enjoyed it, and will now give the Diplomatico a try. Be sure to get the Reserva Exclusiva. There are a couple lesser grade Diplo rums too. Delicious. Outside of the Legendario Elixir, perhaps the sweetest rum I've had. Ken Gargett
I never drink rum neat, but my favorite mixers are:As a born and bred North Queenslander (raised in sugar cane fields )..... 1. Normal everyday Bundy is king because it makes me feel home sick! Because I now live in Melbourne........ 2. Havana Club Añejo Blanco (perfect with coke and a squeeze of lime) 3. Havana Club Añejo 7 Años as a fellow qlder, one grew up with bundy and i truly thought it the best rum on the planet. until i tried some others. bundy is fine as a mixer but if you like rum, have a look through this list and try something like the zacapa's neat, possibly ice if you like it that way (i do prefer it like that) and an entire new world will open up. you'll be stunned. Stalebread
. . . and i am an appleton fan . . . Had my first taste of Appleton last weekend. The VX, must be toward the bottom of their line. Still, I enjoyed it and am looking forward to trying something from the other end.

bassman
Here is an interesting overview for someone wanting to learn more about rum. Have to check the Rum Barrel place out if I ever get to Key West...Rum Bible A rather incomplete "Bible". No lisitngs at all for rums from Cuba, Grenada, Guadeloupe or Matinique. No mention of Zacapa XO from Guatemala or Diplomatico from Venezuela.
