An RE Friday with @Nate Chu C&C for a Saturday morning with this Sir Winston from 03. Today is going to be great if this cigar is anything to judge it by. What a super smooth star

First cigar of the year.

Cigars I've enjoyed lately...

1. Punch Petit Coronation Tubos EML Abr 14

Despite having 3 years on them, I couldn't believe what a powerhouse this was. It started off like a true Punch marca cigar, you know...leather, cream and a hint of spice, but the back-half overwhelmed what I enjoyed in the beginning. Alas, some more I've had since then haven't been as overly powerful, however, they haven't been as flavoursome. Go figure!

2. Cohiba Short

Are you also addicted to these? What makes these so special? Simple really, they taste like a mini Cohiba Clasica Linea cigar that you can enjoy with a nice cup of coffee, probably in the morning, over 10 to 15 minutes. I got these in a split and didn't hesitate to get some more in another recently.

3. Montecristo Tubos PMU Sep 14

Seriously, what is it with Montecristo lately? It seems I'm only having two types of Montecristo cigars in the last few months...outstanding or average. This one was average. Sure, there was a semblance of Monte cocoa, coffee and cream but the draw was too tight and what can I say? C'est la vie!

4. Partagas Serie D No.4 MEG Abr 16

Partagas Serie D No.4...you know it, you like it, heck you are currently making it the biggest selling vitola for Habanos S.A. Man, I wish I was you. How can you like it so young? Trust me, I have tried to appreciate this cigar young and I find that the very best Partagas Serie D No.4's I've had have always had 5 years minimum on them when they get a 'creamy' texture on them, well...at least for me. Ok, well it was leathery, peppery and full-bodied but I'm still going to have a go at sampling this box in the next few months.

5. Ramon Allones Gigantes '06 (Thanks @jay8354)

Thank you Jason for this fine aged Ramon Allones Gigantes. This Double Corona was possibly one of the very best I've sampled of this vitola. Yes, it had a typical blended Ramon Allones cocoa and stewed fruit profile but it was beautifully mild-medium at best, so pleasant to smoke over a nice sunny afternoon!

6. Trinidad Reyes RMU Ago 15 (thanks Jason, again)

So I must thank Jason for his generosity here, as this Trinidad Reyes similarly blew me away. Why isn't Trinidad always like this? Complex flavours of coffee, grass, honey, shortbread, spice. I just wish all Trinidad was like this. If it was then we'd all truly accept that it's touted by Habanos S.A as a 'premium' marca!

7. Partagas 8-9-8 RAE Jun 15 (thanks Kam)

This was my first Partagas 8-9-8 believe it or not, thankfully gifted to me by Kam. What did I think of it? Similar to the last Partagas Lusitanias I had, only more full-bodied than that cigar. It was certainly not akin to the leather and pepper I sampled in the Partagas Serie D No.4 above. How do you like the vitola though? A dalias at 43 ring gauge x 170 mm in length (6.7 inches), only the Cohiba Siglo V is similar in size. It's just perfect, isn't it?

8. Montecristo No.5 AUM Jul 14

Ho, ho, ho...sometimes your Christmases all come at once. What an outstanding Monte No.5 this was! Coffee, cocoa and cream, just glorious over 35 minutes with a cup of black espresso. It makes me cry to think that El Pres is currently struggling to find some stellar ones in the warehouse recently. I certainly hope he does, for all our sakes!

9.Partagas Shorts GEO Dic 14 (thanks Nick)

My brother-in-law gifted this to me awhile ago. Admittedly, I've grown too accustomed to these and I've since moved them out of my rotation until I can re-gain that sense of awe and wonder with them again. Coffee, sourdough, a little leather...yes, they are a fine minuto. It's easily understandable why these are so popular with cigar enthusiasts worldwide.

Trinidad Viigia , looks beautiful but is a wind tunnel. It was so light and underfilled I could actually draw from it BEFOR I clipped the end. No shit.

I am slow smoking it. It's actually very good. Not hot at all.

One of mt favorite "new" Trinidads. Not had one underfilled yet, but it seems Trini's have this trait at times.  I have a bunch of these put away cannot wait what a few years will bring!

Yes, I certainly agree. I remember that was an auspicious occasion as I was fortunate enough to have some Four Pillars Bloody Shiraz Gin, and as this Australian boutique gin was sold out last year, my sharing of it went down rather well!:yes:
