If you get the chance Bouley Bay is a great spot for a swim, also 'Feast' in St Martin, is a good spot for some seafood. Although if you're with the lads in digs, I'm guessing you'll be on a nightly ration of 15 pints and little else.

If you get the chance Bouley Bay is a great spot for a swim, also 'Feast' in St Martin, is a good spot for some seafood. Although if you're with the lads in digs, I'm guessing you'll be on a nightly ration of 15 pints and little else. 

There's only two of us, neither of us drink and I've brought my mountain bike over on the arctic. The digs is actually a four star hotel - It's a tough life in the treespading business!

 

And we're ahead of schedule and may have a free day on Thurs cos the ferry back isn't til Friday

Good on you, There is a great coastal walk that starts from Bouley Bay, I cant remember if it was cycle friendly. The cycle down to Le Grouet lighthouse should be pretty nice, although not challenging. Really loved my little stay in Jersey, we worked restoring the Lalique glass church (must be the only neon crucifix outside of Las Vegas), sadly our boss saw fit to put us in a grimey pub, and not a four star hotel

I noticed that my recent #2s have a very floral note similar to that of the H Upmann.  Or maybe my first box lacked it since this was from a trade that came from a box one month younger than the one I smoked through from the same factory RAU. Good smoke nonetheless.

Haha, Not likely, although I imagine Jersey is one of those places where you'll find some old little pipe tobacconist, and they'll casually have a box of Davidoff Chateau Latour on the shelf on sale since the 1980s for the grand price of £120 with a big day-glow star stuck to it

Hope the job goes well, and your days off are sunny and filled will a great deal more RGPerlas.  I'm smoking through a box of 2017 RGPC and they are outstanding.

PS if your into your tools, "Normans" on the seafront (in St Helier) can 'sometimes' have some interesting stuff that doesn't always get stocked back home in blighty.

Im smoking a NOV-04 MPC RyJ Belicoso ROTT.  Very nice fruit and leather flavors.  

If it is this good now, Im excited to see what they taste like after they acclimatize.

A MUO Ago 2014 Cohiba Esplendidos. Milk Coffee, Honey, Grass and Citrus flavours, I was surprised by the amount of spice evident, which was more intense in the first third or half. It became more like baking spice in the second half.

I may be mistaking it for the bolivar, I have a few left. This one is the best of the ones I've had. I ordered a 6er a while ago and some have been tight. I've tried a few from box passes and trades, but this one takes the cake. It's the fruitiest cigar I've ever had! Adding it to my list of must buy boxes, even though my allowance for cigars is at a screeching halt...

One of the best constructed cigars I have had in a while - no clue what it is as it came unbanded as a gift in 2012. The cello has the color of black tea. Loads of RASS fruit and leather 1st 3rd and now cream and citrus zest in the 2nd 3rd. Impressive.

PL Picadores, ULE MAY 15, bought in October of 2015.  Here are Rob's notes from 24:24 on the day:

All HQ and PSP. Beautiful boxes one and all. Medium full bodied with an enticing mix of pepper, toasted tobacco and honey. It is Por Larranaga and Caramel is on the horizon in spades. You will taste it now which augurs well for the future. 3-5 years to be at their absolute best. Still, sample one 30 days after arrival. If you are a barbarian like me then you will go through them in the year. These have ageing written all over them. I can’t wait to see them down the track as the caramel that is there now multiplies ten-fold.

It's now about 3 years in, so I thought I'd compare notes what we expected / hoped for.

Draw is on the firm side (not too bad) and body is over medium.  Yes, there is considerable caramel. It's paired with a round, soft mouthfeel which screams Cohiba to me. Caramel is present but its presence is very directly a function of how cool the cigar is being smoked.  You can make it all but evaporate if you smoke this too fast/hot.  White pepper in the background, but builds through the thirds.  I also get an elusive foresty note, which I find both pleasing and an intriguing combination with the sweetness.  Needed a couple relights in the final third, but I was very deliberately smoking it slowly to enjoy as much of the natural sweetness as possible.  Finished the cigar, and wanted to reach for another one.

Paired with room temp water and videos on homebrewing ("brew in a bag" method), as I plot a couple upgrades for the summer.
