Merry Christmas

Great morning with my wife,daughter and son-in-law. Now enjoying a MOS AGO 09 ERDM ER France Petit Compania. First one from the box and really nice with this small batch freshly roasted coffee I picked up at one of the three Starbucks Reserve stores in the world. This one is in Seattle on the same street as there first ever store. They actually roast the beans in this store and have beans not available at the normal stores. It’s quite a place; like Willy Wonka but for all things coffee.

Merry Christmas, FOH-ers. Little known fact: “Partagas” loosely translates in english to ‘the perfect Christmas present for yourself’. It’s true. Google it. 

Young Aristocrat. 2016 or 2017. Delightfully oily wrapper. So sexy. I’m almost scared to tell people how great these are. I don’t want to be unable to resupply ? Thankfully, they’re way too cheap to even be on the radar of the “aficionados”. @NSXCIGAR And @awkwardPause know what’s up, though. 

Next up: SUM JUL 17 RyJ Cedros DeLuxe LCDH, thanks to @rd151 Thanks to his good record keeping, I’m able to tell he picked this up on his Christmas vacation last year. As it’s had a few months to rest in my box I figured ‘hey... let’s try something outside my normal repertoire’ ryj, hu, monte, cohiba, - these are all brands I don’t *usually* enjoy/buy - there’s an exception to every rule, though, of course. Petit royales (the one i smoked, anyway), noellas, the occasional especiale 1/2, siglo 1, exquisitos (these are a MAJOR exception to my distaste for cohiba - LOVE em). 

I usually just don’t get the cherry that other people enjoy so much from ryj. Maybe too many years of cigarettes ruined my palate for it. That petit royale that @Hotboxx gave me, though... SLAMMED me with maraschino. So hey. Let’s try it!! 

Further bulletins as events warrant. 

Bulletin: Lots of fruit stuff going on in the first third. Hints of that lovely ginger/spice lebkuken thing I love so much about principes in the second third. Toast and savory and peppery at the end. Altogether enjoyable! Would I pay a premium to stock up on them? No. Might I now be willing to give RyJ another fair shake? Mayhaps. Thanks again, @rd151

I still won’t be caught dead smoking an upmann though! ? Hope everyone else has had as lovely a Christmas as I have, despite being 5,000 miles from home and family.

This wife did very well picking my Christmas gift this year. Two scotch glasses and a beer glass with a real bullet going into the glad. Pretty nifty little things. Veteran owned company too. Either way. Rounding out Christmas celebrations with this 07 Trinidad Ingenios EL paired with a Blue Point Winter Ale and a couple splashes of Glenmorangie 18 yrs. Hope everyone had a great Christmas Celebration and Happy Holidays to all those who celebrate something other than Christmas!

Cohiba Coronas Especiales

This was one very, very special cigar. The reason why is because this cigar led to a lengthy conversation with the owner of the LCDH at Falmouth Port, Jamaica, Raj. I was unlike any other customer who came in the store that day, bypassing the big glass cabinets holding Romeo y Julieta, Cohiba and Partagas Tubos and making a 'beeline' for this wonderful cigar that many of us know, love and appreciate.

After affirming with Raj that I recognised an image of his dear friend Ravi from Hong Kong on his phone, we smoked a cigar together in the store. One and a half hours seemed like 4, there was so much to discuss! I mean, the next image on his phone was Sunil Gavaskar, the Indian Cricketing great, and boy oh boy, that was an incredible discussion. Wow...what a day. The cigar being fantastic just sealed how great a day it was!

Cracked open a box of Connie B’s that I picked up in Havana. Started below medium but finished very strong. Didn’t seem as complex as the Connie A but it was only the first one. I’ll wait a while and check in again.
