So far i've heard classic Sancho salt driftwood and cream, but with touches of chocolate/coconut. Sort of like a Sp beli mixed with a monte PE. Does this ring true? How does this compare to the last regular production La Gloria Cubana vitola currently available, the Medaille d'Or No.4? Well, the LGC Medaille d'Or No.4 is known for being fruity, spicy, herbal, woody and yet it can be sweet and creamy too, especially if aged. This 54 ring gauge x 140mm cigar, known as a 'duke' size was indeed fruity, spicy and had some cream to it, as well as wood, but it was much more refined and subtle. In other words, I would expect to lay down any La Gloria Cubana sticks I have for some time to reach this level of subtlety. The only misnomer I had with this cigar was in trying to take off the bands I tore the wrapper, but despite smoking the rest of the cigar with just the binder, I could still easily retrohale and nub it. 20 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

Definitely the classic Sancho Panza profile, my fellow brother. What you’ve heard is quite accurate. Unfortunately, I did not notice any hints of coconut. Due to the pairing perhaps? Monte 80th - UAO NOV 17 - Big, toasty, chocolate bomb. Medium body and tasty as can be. Buttery aroma while smoking. Too bad so pricey! Punch Corona - 1995 something else. No sweetness but just sheer earthy, hay and coffee. Really nice and unique. Cohiba Corona Especiales - REG MAY 18 - fresh - rich, grassiness prevails. Almost put me on my ass with nicotine. Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robusto - UEB DIC 17 - Wow, did I ever write these off way too soon! Really really good. All that earthy, leathery, woody, slight-spicy goodness is there, and the flavor journey is just an absolute delight. I’m so grateful to HSA, honestly, for these. This is the cigar that instantly springs to mind, and gives me a hearty chuckle, when people at shops tell me they “don’t smoke cubans ‘cause they’re too expensive”. They then proceed to walk out with their $15 rocky patel whilst i go home to the bliss of a ~$4 bombshell partagas. I’ve given up on trying to change minds. It seems a frivolous pursuit. Edit: @HDGSN - pm me for a link, if you see the stealie and realize you ‘just must have it’. I’ve even got a good backstory to share with you.
