Certainly very tasty but the draw has been too tight for me, my jaw is almost aching. Is this normal?
I bought 2 to sample so I have one more to try before I’m convinced enough to buy a box.

Quai d'Orsay No. 50 SMA Jul 2018

Ah yes, this...along with the Quai d'Orsay No.54, is the cigar that is the hottest and most-hyped cigar on our forum currently. How can this be? Was anyone smoking fresh Quai d'Orsay Coronas 2 years ago, let alone the last of the Churchill-sized Quai d'Orsay Imperiales, last seen in 2014? For a marca that's only seen 5 different Regional Editions from 2011 until 2017 worldwide, the turnaround is quite remarkable. In 2018 alone we saw the release of these two new regular production Quai d'Orsay Nos.' 50 and 54, two new Regional Edition and even a new upcoming 2019 Limited Edition announced (the Senadores - in a rare Hermosos No.2 size!) Is the rebranding enough to explain a marca's resurgence from the dead?

In my opinion, the answer is flatly no. It's quite easy to tell from smoking this Quai d'Orsay No.50 'right-off-the-truck', so-to-speak, that quality leaf has gone into these new regular production Quai d'Orsay. It's also quite easy to tell that these will age well, like standard Quai d'Orsay does. The reason lies in the complexity of the smoking experience I enjoyed in sampling this Petit Robusto that will surely put a dent in the sales of all other Petit Robustos currently, except perhaps for the Montecristo Petit Edmundo.

The Quai d'Orsay is a 50 ring gauge x 110 mm cigar, the same size as a Partagas Serie D No.5, so give yourself around 45 to 55 minutes to smoke it, maybe less, even maybe a little more. The first third had sweet gingerbread and toffee notes and was mild and creamy, the middle third was more herbal and licorice/honey and the final third was more cedar and toasted hazelnut. So yes, complex but only because of its youth, but give it a little rest and you'll find the edges of this cigar will wear off and will meld and round off quite nicely. Then again, no-one will blame you (or me) if you have another 'right-off-the-truck', so-to-speak, in the meantime!

My statement, is with regards to a level of quality, on a buying blind basis.  I would suggest they are neck and neck with Connie A's in the level of confidence someone would have cracking a box open, and the odds of them being excellent.   In a way it's less a comment on how good a cigar the RGPC is (although I love them), it's more a comment on their general standard over a large number.

Sancho Panza Non-Plus UBA MAR 15

Enjoyed with my best friend, Frau, and several fingers of El Dorado 12 Year Rum on a warm, Spring weekend. Cigar of the year so far - flavors, draw, burn all perfect. Heavy on the driftwood like all the others from this box, but this was the first to show those great salted flavors of salted cream, salted chocolate with a touch of brown sugar, cappucino and some anise at the very end.

Trinidad Fundadores MUP OCT 18

My first ever Fundy bought on my first ever trip to Cuba.  My plan was to wait to have one out back watching the Masters, but the weather this weekend was so nice, my Tar Heels were playing for the Sweet Sixteen, and there are no guarantees in life. I capitalized on the situation. The cigar was pure CLASS. French press quality coffee and glazed donut. Good to the very end. Just one touch up - otherwise it fixed the wind burn running line every time. Staring at 24 boxes back in December, I had the coin in the budget for 2 boxes. Glad I got 2. Should have bought all 24.

Bolivar Royal Corona (MSU FEB 18) For the win tonight. It was perfect, until I dropped it, and cracked the foot all up? Ah well, smokes perfect!!? Hints of spring coming around, might be able to enjoy one outside tomorrow, garage "experience" is getting old. Have a great night Folks!

It's a problem I have with a lot of skinny Cubans. So I just decided to invest in a PerfecDraw and now I don't have to deal with it anymore.

After a week of disappointing to average CC’s and the best cigar being an NC-Zino Platinum low rider (grab one next time you’re in a B&M, it’s truly a fantastic smoke) this April ‘18 Partagas 898 is reminding me what a great Cuban is. Huge volumes of palette coating rich full flavored smoke. So glad I got 2 boxes last year!
