Bolivar BBF, OSU JUL 2003. The pre-draw is nothing that deserves special mention. Some light cedar notes, and just a light, airy tobacco and slightly dusty without the herbaceous, earthy, leathery and spicy ones that I usually do taste in a young BBF. Upon lighting the cigar, there was a very subtle spice, and very creamy and smooth smoke with just the right amount of cedar notes without being overpowering. The cigar was medium bodied/full flavor picking up some strength, slowly, from the 2nd third, to the nub. There was a great, sweet aroma. No rough edge whatsoever, just like I'd expect from a 17 year old cigar that's been stored well. I've had the cab in my humidor for 14 years, so know the cigars have been stored well. That's why I believe a proven provinence is very important in buying aged or vintage stock. I've been burned a couple of times with paying big $$ for something that was not enjoyable and angers one when you think how much each cigar cost that had zero flavor or flavors of dirt and mildew. Anyway, that's for a different post....  ?

This cigar was just on point today. And it was hard to put down, until I had to !  I have a few other partial boxes from 2003 and I'm very happy, I feel that year was one of, if not the best vintages from 2000 through 2007, give or take, depending on the cigar. Just to note, I have been experimenting with storing  cigars with 8 or so, years of age and older at a slightly higher humidity ( 68%/ 69% ish) for a month or 2 before smoking them, with very good results.

2003 Hoyo Des Dieux. Starting off very nicely. The oils still seeping from the wrapper...

My two cigars during golf today. Novedoso and a Diplo 2 from 2015. Honestly, neither were all that good to me. This cohiba was the least cohiba-esque cigar I’ve had.

Ahaha! Looks like I wasn’t the only one trying to get a smoke in before the rain hit. Looks like you are near Bucktown / Goose Island, eh?
