Since on holidays for the week and not going anywhere, picked away at Cigar Lounge the last few days. Got smoke evac system in(only had parts for over a year...lol), and put wood cladding over the foundation/insulation around the edges. Looks much more like a lounge and not a garage now. Autumn sunshine smoke. Monte Esp.2 from UBM SEP 19. This box is ok but not great. Doesn’t seem like a problem age will fix, they are just a bit bland. Pleasant nonetheless.

Upmann anejados. Disaster today - opened one of my (little used) desktop humidors to find it completely infested with beetles. No idea where they came from, all the cigars have been in there for more than a year, and had not displayed any issues prior to going into that humidor. No new stock has gone in for a long time. 

Might they have been inactive while in the previous storage but became active now? 

Will isolate sticks, freeze, and smoke over the following days. Luckily for me it's only around 30-40 sticks, and nothing expensive - monte 2s, rass, few more of these upmanns, party mad 1s, and 2x3 culebras. Try to expose the emptied humidor to sunshine as well. 

Any thoughts?

Sorry to hear this.  I’d Chuck everything as it’s too risky and probably already contaminated.  I’d sterilize that humidor with rubbing alcohol to kill any eggs, let that completely dry for a couple weeks for the alcohol to dissipate with lid open, then wipe it down with distilled water, let it dry again, and then I’d restart the prepping/seasoning process.    
 

Im going to guess you got some NCs in that humidor?  Or sticks direct from Cuba?  At some point it got too hot in that box, maybe the angle of the sun this time of year was shining on it?
 

This is why I freeze everything upon arrival, I’m terrified of this happening.  No matter who it’s from, Prez, other online vendors, or an LCDH.  Day in fridge unwrapped, at least 2 days at 0 F usually wrapped and taped in ziplock or clingwrap with as much air removed, another day in fridge unwrapped, then into my humi.

Partagás Capitols TUA Abr 2020

The Partagas Capitols is a new, retro-inspired 42 ring gauge x 129 mm (or 5⅛ inches) in length cigar released in conjunction with the Romeo y Julieta Club Kings. There must be some success to these 'retro releases' because I notice that the H.Upmann Regalias is next-in-line for a retro-tin packaged release.

The original Partagas Capitols was the same length but slightly smaller in ring gauge; a 40 rg Petit Cetros which was also machine-made. At least the re-introduced, rebooted Capitols is a handmade cigar!

Like my last Partagas Capitols, this one had a beautiful colorado rosado shade wrapper, which I find quite ideal in a Partagas cigar. My previous Capitols had a pleasant sourdough, spice, wood and a little coffee. This one was slightly more complex. It started with that classic sourdough and coffee you can get in the Partagas marca, then transformed with the addition of some heavy mushroom/forest floor-type flavours, like what you might get in the Partagas Presidentes, for example. At the halfway point there was a significant pick-up in spice or pepper, like what you get from cloves. This remained until the end of the smoke.

I wrote in my last review on this cigar that in comparison to the Partagas Shorts, it lacked that quality leather that you can get in those cigars, but it was a step-up from the generic Partagas Mille Fleur. I still feel this way after smoking my second example from this 5-pack tin.

So, overall I would surmise that this Partagas Capitols was a dependable smoke, had interesting complexity, was constructed well and it was more like a quality premium marevas than a lower-tiered 'cheap and cheerful'. It just wasn't quite up to Partagas Shorts, though.

Last day of good weather it looks.  Luckily I had a fabulous day of smoking. 

this JL2 was the best I’ve had out of this box, leather, earth, coffee, with a crazy Black Cherry Ice Cream finish that lasted until my next draw.

finally this box of Upmann 2s performed.  This was what I’ve been searching for since Robs review, it was incredible.  Buttery, Cakey, Semisweet finish.  Best Up2 I’ve had in ages, maybe ever.

It was one of the better ones I have smoked from the box.  Though the whole box was relatively dark, so I don't think the wrapper made the difference.  It was medium bodied, as most Cohibas are.  I place flavor over strength, and this one was definitely full flavored.

They age so well don’t they? I’ve been burning through 2013 and 2014 boxes. Stellar and imo could go another 5 years easy.
